Increasing Student Success Roles
The Problem
There are discrepancies in student outcomes across the public education sector. Data from recent years has shown student outcomes at the majority of schools nationwide have yet to return to pre-COVID-19 levels.
The Solution
Support the efforts of organizations that provide direct services that increase student success by prioritizing high-impact tutoring and mentoring, particularly for students who need it most.
Summary
A robust evidence base shows that high-impact tutoring and mentoring lead to improved performance in multiple areas important to students’ success, such as academic learning, engagement levels, and attendance. Along with these traditional measurements and goals, high-impact tutoring and mentoring can also have the added impact of encouraging social-emotional learning, which can be a way to address issues of equity, including those worsened by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
