Advancing Equity and Mobile Delivery
The Problem
Patients in rural and urban communities lack access to high-quality essential healthcare services.
The Solution
Support the expansion and excellence of mobile health delivery for those most in need.
Summary
Mobile healthcare delivery of primary and preventative care can contribute to greater access to essential healthcare services in areas which lack essential healthcare, referred to as “health deserts.” The current healthcare ecosystem faces a distribution problem that can be addressed through the greater incorporation of mobile healthcare delivery and other notable changes in healthcare services, such as the use of telehealth, a focus on patient-centered outcomes, and increased attention to the role that social determinants of health play in those outcomes. When implemented correctly, mobile healthcare delivery can provide access to millions of patients who currently lack care, and, with innovative policy support, this can be financially sustainable for providers and health systems across the United States.
